Did you know?

MSC Lirica was MSC’s pioneering ship that started it all. Launched in 2003, she was the very first ship in the Lirica class and marked MSC’s bold step into modern cruise ship design. Think of her as the prototype that proved the concept – everything that works so well on MSC Opera actually started with Lirica’s innovative blueprint. She’s essentially the founding mother of MSC’s most successful smaller ship design.

MSC Lirica swapped opera for classical composers. While her sister ship Opera sticks to opera-themed deck names, Lirica celebrates the masters of classical music – from Verdi on Deck 5 to Rossini on Deck 12. It’s like having your own private concert hall at sea, and the composer theme actually makes navigation easier since most people can hum a Vivaldi piece more easily than remember which opera is which.

MSC Lirica features “Adventure Golf” instead of regular minigolf. At 270 square metres, her top-deck golf course is significantly larger and more elaborate than the standard minigolf found on most cruise ships. It’s a proper adventure course with challenging obstacles and creative holes – perfect for competitive families who want something more engaging than a basic putting green. Smart cruisers know this is one of the best free activities onboard.
