MSC Magnifica completes major Yacht Club refit

MSC Magnifica's Yacht Club Is Here

MSC Magnifica holds a special place in our hearts here at Simply Cruises. She was the first MSC ship we ever sailed on, and she’s the reason we fell head over heels for this cruise line in the first place. So when we heard she was heading into dry dock for a major refit? Let’s just say we’ve been counting down the days.

Well, the wait is over. Magnifica has just emerged from Palumbo Malta Shipyard after two months of extensive work – and she’s looking better than ever.

What’s New Right Now

The ship is already sailing with her fresh upgrades, so if you’re booked on a Mediterranean cruise this winter, you’re in for a treat.

Butcher’s Cut has arrived on Magnifica. If you’ve tried this steakhouse on other MSC ships, you know exactly what we’re talking about – premium cuts, elegant setting, and proper steak done right. If you haven’t? Book a table. Trust us on this one.

Kaito Sushi Bar brings authentic Asian cuisine to the ship with beautifully crafted dishes in a vibrant setting. Fresh flavours, gorgeous presentation, and a nice change of pace from the main dining rooms.

The MSC Aurea Spa has had a complete overhaul. We’re talking panoramic sauna, steam rooms, salt rooms, and a full menu of treatments. This isn’t just a lick of paint – it’s a proper sanctuary now.

The Technogym Fitness Centre is now state-of-the-art with panoramic views while you work out (because if you’re going to suffer, you might as well have a view). There’s a new yoga studio, spinning studio, and even a Gentleman’s Barber. Plus an expanded outdoor Aurea area for those who like their wellness with a sea breeze.

The Big One: MSC Yacht Club Arrives Summer 2026

Here’s where it gets really exciting. From Summer 2026, Magnifica will have a full MSC Yacht Club – 63 suites across five different categories.

For those unfamiliar, the MSC Yacht Club is essentially a ship-within-a-ship. Private areas, 24-hour butler service, exclusive restaurants, and a level of attention that transforms the whole cruise experience. It’s MSC’s answer to luxury cruising, and it’s genuinely impressive.

The new Yacht Club on Magnifica will include:

  • 63 elegant suites ranging from family-friendly connected balconies to the Royal Suite (which has its own private whirlpool and a 78 square metre terrace – yes, really – the deck plans appear to show it as full width of the ship!)
  • Private sundeck with pool and Grill & Bar – your own exclusive outdoor retreat with pool, whirlpool, cabanas, and relaxed dining
  • Top Sail Lounge – floor-to-ceiling windows, panoramic sea views, and somewhere sophisticated to spend your evenings
  • Exclusive Yacht Club Restaurant – refined dining with 24/7 culinary staff and a sommelier on hand

Where Can You Sail Her?

Magnifica is currently in the Mediterranean before departing on a 132-day World Cruise in January 2026. That’s right – she’s doing a world cruise before her Yacht Club even opens. Classic Magnifica, always keeping us on our toes.

Summer 2026 sees her sailing from Warnemünde, Germany (& Copenhagen, Denmark) through Northern Europe – think Baltic Capitals and Norwegian fjords. This is when the full Yacht Club experience goes live.

But here’s the headline for serious cruisers: 2027’s MSC World Cruise will be Magnifica’s first World Cruise with the Yacht Club operational. A 121-night journey visiting 45 destinations across 25 countries. Imagine doing a world cruise with butler service, private dining, and exclusive lounge access throughout. Bookings are open now.

And yes, there’s already a 2028 World Cruise announced – 115 nights including a Panama Canal transit.

Sister Ship MSC Poesia Getting the Same Treatment

MSC Poesia enters dry dock at the same shipyard in February 2026 for similar upgrades. She’ll get her own MSC Yacht Club (69 suites), plus Butcher’s Cut, Kaito Sushi Bar, and all the spa and gym enhancements. Poesia returns to service in time for her Alaska debut in May 2026.

Musica-class loved by many

The Musica-class ships like Magnifica and Poesia are beloved for good reason. They’re properly sized – not so big you need a map and compass, but spacious enough to never feel crowded. At around 95,000 GT with just over 3,200 guests at full capacity, they hit a sweet spot that the mega-ships simply can’t match.

Adding the Yacht Club to these ships opens up a whole new way to experience them. You get that intimate ship feel combined with the exclusivity and service levels that make Yacht Club special. It’s a clever move from MSC, and we reckon these will book out fast once people catch on.

Our Take

We’re genuinely thrilled about this. Magnifica deserved this refresh – she’s been a solid ship since 2010, and now she’s got the facilities to compete with anything else in the fleet. The Yacht Club addition particularly excites us because it brings luxury options to a ship that’s perfect for destinations like the Baltic and Norwegian fjords.

If you’ve been thinking about trying MSC Yacht Club but wanted something more intimate than the mega-ships, Magnifica Summer 2026 onwards is your answer.

And yes, we’ll absolutely be booking ourselves onto her again. For old times’ sake, obviously.
